Metal Switch with extended illumination colours and integrated series resistor
The metal switch MSM from SCHURTER is available with extended illumination colours. The range of colours for standard items consists of red, green, yellow, blue and white.
An additional feature of the SCHURTER switches is an already integrated series resistor for the connection of the ring illumination or the surface illumination. The operator may choose between versions with supply voltages of 5 V, 12 V or 24 V.
The switches are available for mounting diameters of 19, 22 and 30 mm. The switching function is N.O, N.C and changeovers in 1- or 2-pin construction. Because of its small, low-profile front mounting of 1.7 mm, its protection class rating of IP67, and its high impact resistance, the switch is extremely robust and protected against vandalism. Various contact types cover a range for possible switching voltages from 5 VDC to 250 VAC. Switching currents from 0.1 to 10 ampere are possible.

> MSM Series Expanded to Include Colored Housing
|
The MSM metal switches from SCHURTER are now also available with a color-anodized aluminum housing. The new feature enables further customization options for this product.
The signal colors red and green provide optical accentuation to switching functions (START / STOP). The aluminum version, too, is characterized by the IK07 protection class and by high impact strength. Combined with the IP67 protection class for water and dust protection as well as flat mounting properties, the switches are robust and vandal-proof. For the mounting diameters of 19 and 22 mm, SCHURTER has standard products that are available with different lettering. Various contact types cover a range of 30 VDC to 250 VAC for the admissible switching voltage; switching currents are permissible from 0.1 to 10 Amperes. The MSM is designed with flat-pin plugs to permit rapid cabling. The cables are plugged into the microswitch which, in turn, is plugged into the previously screwed in switch. Additional mounting diameters, anodizing die colors or even color-anodized actuators are available upon request.

> Switch for Application in Explosive Facilities
|
Piezo Switch with ATEX Approval
The piezo switch from SCHURTER has achieved approval according to ATEX class II 2 G Ex ib IIB T4. This approval enables the switch to be employed in explosive facilities above ground. The protection class refers to the permissible application in areas where an explosive atmosphere can arise from a mix of air and gases, vapors or mists. The switch may be typically used in oil/gas production systems, in petrochemistry, as well as in paint and varnish mixing facilities. Preparations for extending the approval to include dust-Ex applications are underway. The standard design is available for a mounting diameter of 16mm with pin connections and various housing colors. Additional mounting diameters and connection designs are available upon request. The switches for Ex applications are labeled with the type of approval and an identification number. In accordance with the ATEX guidelines, an installation manual is included in the scope of delivery.

> New metal pushbutton switches with ceramic actuator face
|
This new model with a patented ceramic actuator face expands SCHURTER’s MSM family of metal pushbutton switches with rugged background illumination over the full actuator surface. The material is resistant against scratches, abrasion and impact as well as chemicals and makes the unit well suited for many applications in medical technology and industry.
The new MSM CS metal pushbutton switch from SCHURTER is equipped with an actuator made of rugged ceramic. Ceramic is being employed for the first time in an operating switch and is patented by SCHURTER for this application. The material is resistant against scratches, abrasion and impact as well as chemicals; it can also be labeled and is translucent. Equipped with these versatile features, the MSM CS pushbutton switch opens up completely new possibilities in the construction of medical equipment and in industry.
If the switch is not illuminated, the actuator surface is white. Standard or customer-specific lettering is in black and embedded directly into the ceramic material.
In the illuminated versions of the switch, the actuator face fully illuminates across the entire surface, and lettering and symbols can also be applied. Positive lettering is done in black; for inverse lettering, the label text appears in the selected illumination color. Because of the way they are made, the labels are scratch-proof and stand up to common cleaning agents.
Thanks to a small, low-profile front mounting of 1.7 mm, the IP69K protection class and high level of impact resistance, the switch is extremely robust and protected against vandalism. The MSM CS is available for mounting diameters of 19 and 22 mm. Various contact types cover a range for allowable switching voltages from 30 VDC to 250 VAC; allowable switching currents range from 0.1 to 10 A. For fast wiring, the MSM CS provides blade terminals. Wires are connected to the microswitch element, which is subsequently snapped onto the previously screwed-in switch housing.

Robust Latching Action Switches in Attractive Metal Design
The robust switch type MSM LA from SCHURTER has been redesigned and is now also available with point illumination. For displaying the switching status or for providing visibility during night-time use, the illumination colors red, green and blue are available. The switch is designed with either a one- or two-pole contact, and is intended for a switching capacity of 250 VAC max. and 12 A max. For direct voltage, the switch was tested up to 125 VDC.
The MSM LA is available in 19 mm and 22 mm mounting diameters and suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C. It provides physical and visual indication and may also be used in conjunction with audible devices required by ADA. With an actuating travel greater than 5 mm, the MSM LA is ideal for use in applications where increased feedback of the switching status (ON/OFF) is required.
Additionally, the switching status is easy to discern by looking at, or feeling, the resting position of the actuator. In the OFF state, the actuator position protrudes from the housing; in the ON state, it is depressed into the housing. This provides a user-friendly actuating function and also prevents inadvertent switching, e.g. caused by objects leaning on the switch.
The standard type as well as the versions with ring illumination and now also point illumination may be provided with lettering using standard or customer-specific characters. The laser lettering process is carried out in-house.
Due to the stable stainless steel housing as well as the high impact strength, the switch is particularly suitable for use in devices with rough ambient conditions or for vandal-proof applications.
