> New Power Entry Modules Designed for Optimal EMC Shielding and Rear Mounting
Existing Power Entry Modules C20F, DC12, KFA now with Metal Flange

Schurter's C20F, DC12 and KFA power entry module product lines are extended to include filter cases with a solid metal flange. The products are designed to panel mount from the rear side for better grounding and optimal EMC shielding. They also allow for pre-wiring of the module before installation. The metal flange provides an ideal solution over traditional modules with plastic flanges. The solid metal contact of the metal flange with the panel eliminates the possibility of having EMI-producing slot antennas around the module. The modules are mounted with screws or rivets. A version with pre-drilled, threaded holes eliminates the nuts, automating assembly and minimizing costs.

Today, metal enclosures are being replaced with metallized plastic enclosures in order to reduce the cost and weight of the unit for increased portability. Medical equipment, in particular, demands more functionality in less space, while at the same time meeting stringent EMC requirements according to IEC 60601-1. The new power entry modules are available with low leakage medical filters M80, version for use in applications with indirect patient contact and the M5, version for use in applications with direct patient contact. The modules are also available with standard filters designed for use in IT applications according to IEC/UL 60950, where high filter attenuation is required.

All products are approved according to ENEC (<img src="/images/support/approvals/enec_vde.gif" width="30">) and UL

(<img src="/images/support/approvals/curus.gif" width="40"> ). Terminals are quick-connect 6.3 mm x 0.8 mm. Alternative options include wires (braided) or solder tabs. Additionally, the DC12 series, combining switch, inlet and filter is available in red or green illumination. Pricing for the modules vary, based on functionality.

> Schurter Adds "Snap-in" Power Entry Module
Space saving, compact design speeds assembly

Schurter announced today the new KFA snap-in power entry module as an adjunct to its popular screw mount counterpart. The elimination of mounting holes on the snap-in unit saves space and speeds assembly. The snapper design universally supports a range of panel thicknesses from 0.8 mm to 3.0 mm.

The KFA snap-in provides up to three functions, including an inlet, 1- or 2-pole shock-safe fusedrawer and EMC filter. The integrated unit provides a high performing, compact system for 1U devices where the load must be protected against overcurrent at the power source.

While the KFA series can be used in a variety of applications, it is especially suited for medical applications according to IEC 60601-2. The fusedrawers are offered as 1-pole, 2-pole, 1-pole with a spare fuse compartment, or 2-pole with a shorting bar in the neutral side. The 2-pole version provides additional safety by protecting both sides of the line - important when a non-polarized cordset is used. The fusedrawer is available in a finger-grip or extra-safe version. The extra-safe feature prohibits users from removing the fusedrawer while the power cord is plugged into the equipment. Standard or medical line filters are offered for rated currents of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10 A. The medical filters, types M5 or M80, limit leakage current to 5 or 80 µA respectively. The M80 version provides increased attenuation of electro-magnetic interference, yet still meets the leakage requirements for non-patient contact devices.

The KFA is approved for 1-10 A at 125/250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, according to UL/CSA (<img src="../../images/support/approvals/curus.gif" width="40">) and IEC/EN (<img src="../../images/support/approvals/enec_vde.gif" width="30">). The series is also suited for use in applications as described in IEC 60950, such as measurement, office, security, data communication or similar industrial applications.
